Judge Ebony M.聽 Scott was nominated聽 by President Joseph R. Biden聽 Jr. to be an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District聽 of Columbia in September聽 2021 and confirmed聽 by the Senate on February聽 7, 2022. Previously, Judge Scott was appointed聽 Magistrate Judge by Chief Judge Robert E. Morin in January 2020.

Judge Scott was born and raised聽 in Buffalo, N.Y. She graduated from the University of Rochester聽 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and earned her law degree from American聽 University Washington College of Law in 2006. Following聽 graduation from law school,聽 Judge Scott served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Anna Blackburne-Rigsby on the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Following her clerkship, she joined the law firm of Chaikin, Sherman,聽 Cammarata & Siegel, P.C., where she litigated personal injury cases on behalf of plaintiffs聽 in the District of Columbia and Maryland.聽 She later joined the Office of聽 the Attorney General for the District聽 of Columbia in 2012 as an Assistant Attorney聽 General, where she prosecuted a聽 variety of cases involving drug, firearm, and prostitution related nuisances, and聽 later served as Acting聽 Chief of her Section.

In 2016, Judge Scott joined the District聽 of Columbia Office of Human Rights as General聽 Counsel. In her role, she oversaw the day-to-day operations of the Legal Division聽 and managed the resolution of discrimination complaints arising under the D.C. Human Rights Act and other federal and District laws. In 2018, Judge Scott joined the Mayor鈥檚聽 Office of Legal Counsel聽 as Deputy Director.聽 In this role, she聽 assisted the Director in supervising all agency counsel reporting to the Mayor, and聽 provided legal advice to the聽 Mayor, agency Directors,聽 and Deputy Mayors.

Judge Scott has always been committed to public service.聽 She previously served as an Abramson聽 Scholarship Foundation mentor, played an聽 active role on its mentoring committee, and currently volunteers for the Abramson Scholarship Foundation's Advisor聽 Network and serves on the Advisory聽 Council.聽 She is a former member of the Trial Lawyers' Association of Metropolitan Washington, D.C., and previously served as a governor on the Board of Governors, and as chair of the Education聽 Committee. She has also been an active member of the American Association for Justice and served for two years as one of the regional聽 coordinators for the Washington, D.C. regional聽 tournament for the National Student聽 Trial Advocacy Competition.聽 In 2023, Judge Scott received the Joseph H.聽Hairston聽Award聽by the Black alumni of the Washington College of Law聽 for her distinguished public service.
